A father and his son were killed in a tragic plane crash in Rio Claro, in the Médio Paraíba region of Rio de Janeiro. Everaldo Pereira Da Costa Filho, 73, and his son Valentim Costa were aboard the aircraft when it collided with a hill and caught fire, authorities said.
Everaldo, an experienced private pilot with over 3,000 flight hours and a member of the CEU Squadron’s ground support team, was confirmed dead by the squadron on social media. Valentim’s death was reported by his wife, Thayná Quirino, who shared her grief online, expressing the depth of her loss.
The plane, identified as a TL-3000 Sirius from 2010, was largely destroyed in the fire, with only its identification plate surviving. The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro and the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA) are investigating the crash, and officials continue to work at the site to preserve evidence and determine the cause of the accident.
