Michael Cordes, 70, and Freda Cordes, 67, both of Rogers, Arkansas, were killed last Thursday in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 62 near Avoca. The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m. when a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jose Gamez, 45, of Pea Ridge, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck the motorcycle.

Both Michael and Freda Cordes were pronounced dead at the scene. Gamez was arrested and booked into the Benton County Detention Center on charges of two counts of negligent homicide and driving while intoxicated. He was not injured in the crash.

Authorities noted that Gamez is also being held at the request of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and that he had an active nationwide felony warrant from Los Angeles County, California. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
