Authorities have identified 37-year-old Jacob Ballard as the man who was killed in a shooting incident in Benzie County, Michigan.
The shooting occurred around 9:20 p.m. Saturday at a home along the 14000 block of Hall Avenue in Thompsonville. Deputies from the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Ballard dead at the scene.
Investigators say the suspect, 66-year-old Jonathan Frederick, was taken into custody at the residence on unrelated charges at the time. Officials later charged him with open murder in connection with Ballard’s death.
According to reports, the shooting took place at Frederick’s home, and the two men were known to each other. Frederick remains held in the Benzie County Jail and has been denied bond as the case moves forward.
