Fatal San Clemente car crash death of Maria Ramirezahmad – Obituary

Authorities and family members have identified Maria Ramirezahmad, a 53-year-old grandmother from Anaheim, as the victim killed in a violent crash in San Clemente while she was on her way to work.

The collision occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of South Ola Vista and Avenida Granada, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators say a stolen U-Haul van, which was being pursued by deputies, crashed into Ramirezahmad’s SUV.

Ramirezahmad was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other women traveling in her vehicle sustained critical injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Family members shared that she was heading to work at the time of the incident. A fundraiser created in her honor describes her as a devoted wife, mother of four, and grandmother of two who consistently put others before herself and was deeply loved by those around her.

Officials reported that the U-Haul driver, identified as 39-year-old Mathew Alexander Ronquillo of Cerritos, attempted to flee deputies before causing the crash. He was later apprehended after trying to run from the scene and was taken to a hospital before being booked into jail on multiple charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter.

A passenger in the U-Haul, 56-year-old Gregorio Horacio Trejochavez of La Habra, remained at the scene and was also taken into custody.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
