Authorities have identified Emmanuel Manoog Damboragian, 85, of Tolland as the man who died following a serious two-vehicle collision in the area.

According to Connecticut State Police, the crash occurred around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of Old Stafford Road and Slater Road. Damboragian was driving a 2017 Nissan Murano westbound on Slater Road when it entered the intersection and collided with a southbound Subaru Legacy.

Following the impact, both vehicles struck a utility pole. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where Damboragian was pronounced dead.

A 64-year-old passenger traveling with him sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter to Hartford Hospital. The 18-year-old driver of the second vehicle suffered only minor injuries.

Authorities closed the intersection for several hours as members of the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad processed the scene. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
