Fatal Madison, Dane County crash death of Alexander Rosen – Obituary
Alexander Rosen, a 12th-grade student at Madison West High School, was killed in a tragic car crash on South Park Street near Burr Oak Lane in early February. The accident involved a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Kathleen Borgwardt, who is facing charges of second-degree reckless homicide.
Authorities reported that witnesses saw Borgwardt driving erratically and at high speed, estimated at 62 mph in a 25-mph zone, just before colliding with Rosen. The devastating crash claimed Rosen’s life instantly, leaving the Madison community in shock.
Borgwardt pleaded not guilty during a preliminary hearing in Dane County Court, where a judge determined there was enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial. Her defense attorneys indicated they plan to challenge certain details of the prosecution’s account, including the estimated speed of her vehicle.
Family, friends, and classmates of Rosen have expressed deep grief over the loss, describing him as a bright and beloved student whose life was cut tragically short. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
