Authorities say 54-year-old Richard Hinds was one of two victims killed in a violent stabbing spree that took place in downtown Riverside.
Investigators allege that the attack occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on March 11, when a suspect encountered Hinds near the intersection of 12th and Main streets. During the encounter, the assailant reportedly stabbed Hinds multiple times before leaving him at the scene.
Emergency responders were called after passersby discovered the victim, but Hinds was pronounced dead where he was found.
Police say the suspect continued walking through the area and, moments later, allegedly carried out a second fatal stabbing nearby, killing another individual.
The accused, identified as 32-year-old Cesar Aguirre of Perris, was later arrested following an investigation. Authorities stated that the attacks appeared to be random and unprovoked.
Aguirre has since been charged with multiple counts of murder and is being held without bail as the case proceeds through the court system.
