Fatal Yerington U.S. Alt. 95 car crash death of Michael Nettles – Obituary
Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a crash along U.S. Alternate 95 near Yerington. Michael Nettles, 63, of Yerington, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on March 20 south of mile marker 15. Investigators say Nettles was driving a 2003 Subaru Outback northbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle and moved into the southbound lane.
During the maneuver, the Subaru collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Chevrolet pickup. After the impact, both vehicles left their respective lanes, with the truck coming to rest partially on the dirt shoulder and the Subaru ending up on the gravel shoulder.
Nettles died at the scene as a result of the crash. The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
