Fatal Mineral County head-on car crash death of Jana Lee Cox – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed the identity of the woman who was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 95 in Mineral County. Jana Lee Cox, 56, of Yerington, Nevada, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on March 12.
According to the Nevada State Police, the accident occurred near mile marker 67 when a northbound Ford Fusion crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 2013 Kia Forte. The impact struck the front right of the Kia, causing the Ford to rotate, roll onto its left side, and catch fire.
Cox, who was a passenger in the Kia, did not survive the crash. The driver of the Ford also died, though their identity is still pending confirmation. The driver of the Kia sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital.
Investigators from Nevada State Police continue to examine the circumstances of the crash.
