Authorities have identified a young man who lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in Birmingham early Sunday morning. Kevin A. Arita-Alvarado, 20, was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a roadway.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred on Green Springs Highway near Red Mountain Terrace at approximately 2:00 a.m. Officials say Arita-Alvarado was in the roadway when a vehicle hit him and fled the scene.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after, and he was pronounced dead at the location around 2:32 a.m.
The driver involved did not stop, and authorities have not yet released information about the suspect vehicle. Birmingham police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
