Authorities confirmed the death of a 90-year-old woman following a vehicle crash into a lagoon on Hilton Head Island. The victim has been identified as Helen Connors.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office reported that the incident occurred on March 31 around 7:30 p.m. on South Beach Lagoon Drive in the Sea Pines community. A 2000 Lincoln SUV veered off the road and submerged in the lagoon.
Troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol were alerted to the submerged vehicle the following day. Upon investigation, Connors was found deceased inside the vehicle.
Officials did not release additional details regarding how the crash occurred, and the case remains under review. Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
