Fatal Stockton shooting death of Damon Richard James Owens – Obituary
Damon Richard James Owens, 42, was fatally shot on April 7 behind a Michaels store on the 7600 block of Pacific Avenue in Stockton, according to the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Stockton police responded to reports of gunfire at 5:09 a.m. Tuesday. Owens was found at the scene with gunshot injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Initial reports had incorrectly listed his age as 32.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting but had no suspects identified as of April 7. By April 8, the yellow caution tape around the crime scene had been removed, though a police squad continued to patrol the area.
Owens’ death is the seventh homicide recorded in Stockton this year. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information to contact the Stockton Police Department or provide an anonymous tip to Stockton Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600.
