Gregory Sharkey, 42, lost his life following a crash along Upriver Drive in Spokane on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 11:13 a.m. near North Upriver Bend Lane.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Sharkey was driving westbound at a high speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the roadway and collided with a parked vehicle in a designated parking area near the Centennial Trail before crashing into a tree.
Authorities reported that Sharkey was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The individual inside the parked vehicle was not injured.
Both vehicles involved were severely damaged. Officials have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
