Fatal Elk Grove Village, Illinois car crash death of Alexis Ramirez – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed the death of 26-year-old Alexis Ramirez after a crash-related incident that ended in a nearby retention pond in Elk Grove Village.
Police and emergency crews were called on April 8, 2026, to the 700 block of Innovation Boulevard following reports of a missing person connected to a prior collision. When responders arrived, they located Ramirez deceased after an extensive search of the surrounding area.
Investigators said Ramirez had been involved in a single-vehicle crash on March 10 near the intersection of Higgins Road and Brennan Boulevard. The damaged vehicle was found close to two retention ponds at a commercial development site in the area.
Early reports indicate Ramirez left the crash scene on foot before disappearing. Despite initial search efforts using K-9 units, drones, and sonar equipment, no immediate sign of the driver was found at the time.
Weeks later, a renewed search led crews to discover Ramirez’s body in one of the retention ponds on April 9. Officials have not yet released a cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash and the events that followed as they work to determine exactly what happened.
