According to the Leesburg Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:09 a.m. on April 10, 2026, near the intersection of U.S. 27 and English Road. Investigators say a gray Hyundai sedan traveling northbound struck a woman who was attempting to cross the roadway.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Ashleah C. Hayes, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the vehicle involved is likely a Hyundai Elantra with damage to its front end. The driver left the area before officers arrived, and authorities continue to search for both the suspect and the vehicle.

The crash led to the closure of the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 for several hours while investigators processed the scene. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation remains active.
