Pottawatomie County authorities have identified the individual discovered Monday inside a residence following a prolonged 17-hour confrontation that resulted in two people being arrested. The state’s medical examiner’s office confirmed the deceased was 70-year-old Harold Thompson, whose son was one of those taken into custody.

Prior to the incident, a Silver Alert notice was activated for Harold Thompson. Court records indicate that a nephew approached law enforcement authorities with information from John Thompson, who reportedly stated, “Harold Thompson isn’t the same person anymore.” According to investigators, Thompson’s body had been inside the dwelling for multiple days.

Both John Thompson and the other suspect are currently being held without bail. The medical examiner’s office has not yet determined the official cause of death for Harold Thompson.
