Law enforcement confirmed the identity of the individual killed when a motor vehicle accident on the city’s Coney Island peninsula tragically resulted in a fatality. The fatality occurred during a vehicular incident in the Coney Island area. Klara Litvak was identified as the deceased.

Official investigations cited Klara Litvak, an 89-year-old female resident identified as living adjacent to the location of the accident on the nearby Surf Avenue thoroughfare, passed away following receiving impact from a moving vehicle. This occurred shortly before the clock reached 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection or vicinity of Neptune Avenue in the Coney Island district.

According to the findings of the police department, an 86-year-old gentleman operating a Chrysler-branded sport utility vehicle (SUV) vehicle was the driver involved in the incident. The official account indicates he was reversing his vehicle out of a designated parking area when he engaged the reverse gear and inadvertently collided with multiple pedestrians.

The collision reportedly caused Klara Litvak’s untimely demise. She was immediately transported via emergency medical services to the NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn campus, but unfortunately, she was declared deceased upon arrival at the medical facility.

Separate individuals impacted by the collision were also transported to a medical center, specifically Maimonides Medical Center. Among these were a 75-year-old woman and a 43-year-old woman, both of whom were assessed by medical professionals and reported to be in stable health as of recent updates.

Relevant visual records from the scene depicted a vehicle, identified as a maroon-colored SUV, partially occupying a public sidewalk area. There was also noticeable damage to nearby structures, including fractured components from a building’s railing system, and an abandoned grocery bag was observed near the location of the impact.

A person who observed the tragic event and provided assistance shortly after it occurred described the scene and its consequences as deeply saddening and emotionally difficult to witness.
