Fatal Georgetown car crash death of Michael L. Vermillion
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office sent officers to the scene of an accident occurring on Illinois Route 1, a short distance from the northern section of Georgetown, approximately at midday on Wednesday.
Following the incident, the Champaign County Coroner’s office confirmed that the female individual who lost her life was Patricia A. Hood, a 52-year-old resident of Danville.
On the same day as the accident, the Vermilion County Coroner’s office announced that the male victim was Michael L. Vermillion, aged 51, from Danville.
Investigators found that multiple vehicles were proceeding south when one behind attempted to pass the one ahead. This car subsequently collided with the vehicle in front. Later, it veered into the opposing lane and collided head-on with a different vehicle.
All individuals in the other cars were taken to a medical facility by emergency services.
The sheriff’s agency, the Vermilion County Coroner’s office, and the Champaign County Coroner’s office are still examining the circumstances of the accident.
