Fatal Phoenix car crash deaths of Pedro Lopez Cardona and Boniface Black
Phoenix authorities have disclosed the identities of two males who lost their lives in a collision at a bustling northern Phoenix intersection on Wednesday afternoon.
The individuals are 37-year-old Pedro Lopez Cardona and 63-year-old Boniface Black.
The accident transpired approximately at 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Footage from the scene depicted an SUV inverted and a sedan bearing significant damage to its passenger side.
The two-vehicle mishap occurred early on Wednesday afternoon at the same location, near the northern part of Phoenix.
Phoenix law enforcement stated that Cardona was piloting the SUV westbound on Union Hills Street at a high velocity, ran a red light, and crashed into a vehicle executing a left turn to proceed northbound on 35th Avenue. Cardona was ejected from the SUV and did not survive, succumbing to his injuries at the crash site.
The driver of the other automobile was transported to the hospital, remaining in a critical condition. However, her front-seat passenger, Boniface Black, also suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A third individual sustained injuries, though it is not specified which vehicle they were occupying.
Phoenix police indicated that the probe is ongoing, with investigators working to collect evidence to establish the sequence of events leading to the collision.
