An 88-year-old woman from Avoca, Nebraska, has died following a pedestrian crash in Lincoln over the weekend. The victim has been identified as Joan Meyer.

The incident occurred on January 31 near the intersection of 14th and G streets. Lincoln police reported that 47-year-old Michael Hughes was traveling southbound on 14th Street, stopped at a stop sign, and attempted a left turn onto G Street when his vehicle struck Meyer as she crossed in the crosswalk.

Meyer was transported to a hospital with a severe head injury and succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday. Authorities have classified the case as a motor vehicle homicide, and the investigation is ongoing.
