Authorities have confirmed the identity of the man killed during a traffic stop in Nampa. Josiah Gilliam, 26, was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon after officers encountered him in a vehicle on N. 21st Street and Industrial Road. Police say Gilliam, who had an outstanding felony warrant, brandished a firearm and did not comply with commands, leading two officers to fire their weapons.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Gilliam was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries to the hands. The Canyon County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, while the Caldwell Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
