Bryan Lofton dies in fatal Long Beach shooting

Fatal Long Beach shooting death of Bryan Lofton – Obituary

Bryan Lofton, 20, was shot and killed on Sunday in a parking structure near the grand opening of a Marathon Burgers in Long Beach. Two other people were injured in the incident but are expected to recover, according to police.

Long Beach authorities reported that officers responded around 3:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of Pine Avenue, close to a crowd gathered for the restaurant’s opening, which was co-founded by the late rapper Nipsey Hussle and supported by Snoop Dogg. The shots came from the parking structure as officers arrived on scene. Lofton was found with a gunshot wound to the head, received immediate medical attention, and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. His place of residence has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear if he was specifically targeted.

Two additional victims, both males in their teens or early 20s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at nearby hospitals. Social media footage showed at least one of the injured being loaded into an ambulance.

Marathon Burgers emphasized that the shooting was unrelated to the event itself, which continued safely and remains open to customers.

Police have not identified any suspects and are urging anyone with information or video footage of the shooting to contact LBPD homicide detectives Eric Thai or Chasen Contreras, or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
