A mass shooting in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom neighborhood on February 21 claimed the life of 42-year-old Dominic Antoine Jackson of Henrico, Virginia. The incident also killed 23-year-old Genesis Tamar Jones of Petersburg and injured seven others.
Police reported that the confrontation began as a verbal dispute in the 00 block of North 18th Street around 2:47 a.m. during the early hours of the morning. An officer on patrol discovered one victim deceased at the scene, and EMS responded immediately. Jackson was later confirmed among the fatalities.
Three men—25-year-old Drevon Jackson-Brown, 26-year-old Carlos Johnson, and 22-year-old Shaquan Morris—have been charged in connection with the shooting. Charges include first-degree murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Authorities continue investigating the circumstances of the shooting, and law enforcement officials are reviewing video evidence submitted by the public to aid the case.
