Fatal Powder Springs shooting death of Rashad Liddwell – Obituary

POWDER SPRINGS, GA — Rashad Liddwell, 30, died after being shot Sunday night at Powder Springs Park, according to the Powder Springs Police Department. Officers responded around 9:22 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the park on Lewis Extension and discovered Liddwell suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts by officers and emergency responders to provide aid, he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said Liddwell’s identification lists an address in Austell, though detectives have not confirmed whether that was his current residence. A woman connected to the incident spoke with investigators and said she acted because she feared for her life.

Detectives are continuing to examine witness statements and physical evidence as they work to determine what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made so far, and once the investigation is completed, the findings will be turned over to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office to decide if charges should be filed.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public and are encouraging anyone with information about the case to contact the Powder Springs Police Department.
