A 90-year-old man, Carlos Martinez, lost his life Tuesday afternoon after being struck in a pedestrian crash in Bartonville, according to officials.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood reported that Martinez sustained severe blunt force injuries that proved fatal. The incident took place بالقرب Bartonville Grade School along Keller Street.
Authorities stated that Martinez was initially conscious and responsive following the collision, but his condition quickly worsened. Emergency responders transported him to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he arrived unconscious, without breathing, and lacking a pulse.
Despite efforts to save him, Martinez was pronounced dead shortly before 2:30 p.m., the coroner confirmed.
Officials say the circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
