Immaculate Were, 55, dies in a fatal crash on the Tororo–Jinja Highway after the taxi she was riding in overturned at Papoli.
Police say the crash occurred when the taxi driver was overspeeding and attempted a reckless overtaking maneuver. The vehicle lost control and flipped off the road.
One passenger, identified as Immaculate Were, was killed. Six other passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash and have urged motorists to observe speed limits and safe overtaking practices to prevent similar incidents.
