Fatal Glasgow car crash death of Emily Corbin
A collision occurred on North Jackson Highway in Glasgow on Friday night that led to the deaths of three individuals. This accident took place shortly after 11:30 p.m. at the intersection involving Veterans Outer Loop and North Jackson Highway, prompting an immediate response from the Glasgow Police Department.
Initial findings from the investigation indicate that Asa Howard, who was 18 and from Edmonton, was driving a northbound Nissan Altima through the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop when it collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander going eastbound, which was being operated by Timothy Houchens from Glasgow. This impact resulted in multiple injuries and fatalities.
Emergency medical services quickly transported Asa Howard and Caden French, another 18-year-old passenger from Glasgow, to T.J. Samson Hospital, where they were airlifted for additional care due to the severity of their wounds. However, Emily Corbin, who was 18 and a passenger in Howard’s car from Hart County, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Tragically, two other passengers in Howard’s vehicle also lost their lives: a 17-year-old from Edmonton and a 14-year-old whose identity has not been revealed. Meanwhile, Jabari Sweat, another Glasgow native who was a passenger in the Altima, was taken to T.J. Samson Hospital but was released after his injuries were stabilized.
For the other vehicle, Houchens drove away from the scene without assistance, but his passenger, Stephen Estes, was treated at T.J. Samson Hospital following the incident. The Glasgow Police Department has cited alcohol as a potential factor in the crash, with toxicology results pending completion of further testing.
A preliminary probe into the accident, led by Officer John Dubarry, involved collaboration with Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management, Hart County EMS, Glasgow Fire Department, Barren County Sheriff Department, and Kentucky State Police. This fatal event continues to be under investigation.
