Authorities in Lorain, Ohio, confirmed that two young women lost their lives in a car crash at the Beaver Park Marina early Friday morning.
The victims were identified as 18-year-old Lucille Hopkins and 17-year-old Paige Williams. Police reported the crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. on March 6 at West Erie and Oak Point Road, when the vehicle struck a utility pole and then went into Lake Erie.
A third passenger, an 18-year-old man, survived the accident by escaping through a backseat window. Police said Hopkins was driving the vehicle, with Williams also inside at the time of the crash.
Both victims were affiliated with EHOVE Career Center—Williams was a senior in the Cosmetology program, and Hopkins was a Medical Careers alumna. Superintendent Chris M. McCully expressed condolences to their families and classmates, noting the school had mobilized its crisis response team to support students and staff.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
