Joshua Back, 34, of Fairfield Township, died Saturday evening following a serious crash in Liberty Township, authorities confirmed.
The Butler County Coroner’s Office reported that Back passed away just before 6 p.m. at the University of Cincinnati West Chester Hospital after being involved in a multi-vehicle collision around 5:30 p.m. He was driving a Mazda6 that collided head-on with a Ford F-150 near Ohio 129.
According to officials, Back had been driving recklessly earlier, sideswiping a silver SUV while turning onto Ohio 747. He then performed a U-turn and continued southbound on the road before the head-on crash. The Mazda ultimately came to rest against the bridge’s guardrail.
The driver of the SUV was unharmed, while the occupants of the Ford F-150 were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office traffic accident response team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
