A woman has been identified following a deadly rollover crash on Highway 166 near the San Luis Obispo County line in California. Authorities confirmed that 27-year-old Gabrielle Hinojosa of Bakersfield was the driver killed in the incident, which occurred on April 14 near Rinconada Ranch.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Hinojosa was traveling westbound in a Ford Fusion when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under investigation. The car reportedly rolled down an embankment about 20 feet off the highway before coming to a stop. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

A toddler who was also in the vehicle survived the crash and was transported by ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officials have not released an update on the child’s condition.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway. Authorities noted that the crash occurred on a remote section of Highway 166, an area that has seen other serious collisions in recent weeks.
