ASHLAND — Demitri Zimmer, Twenty-four-year-old resident of Laconia, was shot and killed by Ashland police during a traffic stop on Monday evening.
Officers pulled over Zimmer’s vehicle around 3:15 p.m. for a routine traffic violation, according to the initial report. The encounter escalated, and officers opened fire, fatally wounding Zimmer.
Ashland police have not released additional details about the events leading up to the shooting. No officers were injured during the incident.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office typically reviews officer-involved shootings. It is unclear whether that office has opened an investigation into this case.
Zimmer’s next of kin and a memorial service location have not been announced.
