Kaya Ray, a 23-year-old female from San Diego, lost her life in a serious motor vehicle collision that took place on a freeway access road located in the East Village region. The incident happened around 10:59 p.m. on October 6. Ray was operating her personal sedan when it departed the road without explanation. The official report from the county’s Medical Examiner’s Office indicates the car subsequently collided with a tree. Emergency medical technicians transported Ray to Scripps Mercy Hospital in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Tragically, she did not survive and passed away two days following the accident.
