Fatal Jennings County house fire death of Kody A. Perry – Obituary

Authorities in Jennings County are investigating the death of 33-year-old Kody A. Perry of North Vernon after a house fire claimed his life Sunday morning.

The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving calls around 7:30 a.m. about a residence on fire in the 4500 block of North County Road 350 West, near State Road 7 in Queensville. Deputies and North Vernon Police officers arrived quickly and tried to enter the smoke-filled home amid concerns that it was still occupied.

Firefighters from the Scipio-Geneva Township Fire Department soon arrived and battled the blaze, which was made more difficult by the freezing temperatures. Inside, they discovered the body of Mr. Perry. The Jennings County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity at the scene.

Indiana State Police detectives and crime scene investigators are working alongside the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident. The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is examining the cause of the fire.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Perry’s death.
