James Marquis Simmons was killed early Sunday morning after a shooting outside a Killeen nightclub, authorities confirmed. The incident happened in the parking lot of Club Blu Print, located along East Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

According to the Killeen Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4 a.m. on February 1 following reports of gunfire. When police arrived, they discovered Simmons suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking area of the club.

Emergency responders arranged for Simmons to be airlifted to Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries and was officially pronounced dead at 5:01 a.m.

Investigators stated that a 9-1-1 caller reported hearing shots before locating the wounded man. Witnesses also reported seeing an unidentified vehicle leaving the area around the time the shooting occurred.
