Fatal Kansas City, MO shooting death of Brandon Williams – Obituary
Authorities have released the name of the man who died following a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City.
Police identified the victim as 23-year-old Brandon Williams. Officers with the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched at about 12:45 p.m. to the area of 70th Street and Cleveland Avenue after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they discovered Williams inside a stopped vehicle suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began providing aid until emergency medical crews arrived. Williams was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators say preliminary findings suggest Williams had been with several other individuals near 71st Street and Cleveland Avenue when they encountered one or more suspects. During that encounter, an interaction occurred that led to gunfire.
After the shooting, Williams and others left the scene in a vehicle but stopped near 70th Street and Cleveland Avenue, where officers later located him.
At this time, police have not taken any suspects into custody and have not released information about potential suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
