Fatal Acworth, Georgia shooting death of Jordan Alexander Jones – Obituary

Acworth police have confirmed that a security guard was fatally shot early Saturday morning after intervening to stop a fight outside Saddle Bar. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Jordan Alexander Jones of Lawrenceville.

According to authorities, Jones stepped in to protect a woman during an altercation between a man and another individual. While Jones was able to defuse the immediate conflict, the man involved, 25-year-old Daniel Di Vonne Parsons, allegedly retrieved a firearm and shot Jones in the parking lot.

Police responded to the scene on Cowan Road around 2:46 a.m. and found Jones with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Parsons was arrested in connection with the shooting and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery. He is being held without bond at the Cobb County jail.

Tributes poured in for Jones from his alma mater, Mountain View High School, the University of West Alabama, and the Michigan Arsenal Indoor Arena Football team, recognizing his courage, leadership, and positive influence both on and off the field. The bar where he worked also honored him as a selfless individual who put himself in danger to protect others.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident while the community mourns the loss of a young man widely remembered for his bravery and character.
