Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting in Elizabethtown that resulted in the death of 31-year-old Tyler J. Halbleib.
Police responded to a report of gunfire on the first block of Beech Lane late Saturday night. When officers arrived, they discovered Halbleib lying on the porch of a residence with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but Halbleib was pronounced dead from his injuries.
According to investigators, four individuals inside the home had been involved in a lengthy verbal domestic dispute. During the argument, Halbleib and another person went outside, where the confrontation continued.
Police say the suspect eventually shot Halbleib before leaving the scene in a vehicle. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
Neighbors reported hearing a loud noise just before midnight that they initially believed was a firework. One nearby resident later checked his doorbell camera and reported hearing shouting moments before police arrived.
Authorities secured the area early Sunday morning while investigators placed evidence markers along the street and gathered information from nearby homes. Several law enforcement agencies, including Northwest Regional Police, Susquehanna Regional Police, the Lancaster County Detective’s Office, and the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, are assisting with the investigation.
Police say the case remains active, though officials have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
