Fatal Homer Glen hit-and-run death of Louise M. Vieni – Obituary
Louise M. Vieni, 65, of Lockport, lost her life Friday evening in a hit-and-run collision in Homer Glen, authorities confirmed.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called around 6 p.m. to 159th Street, between Gougar and Cedar roads, after receiving reports of an injured person in the roadway. Upon arrival, officials discovered that Vieni had been struck by a vehicle that did not remain at the scene.
Investigators noted that the initial incident involved a driver hitting a dog while traveling east on 159th Street. When this driver stopped and, along with a passerby, began assisting, they found Vieni already injured from a prior vehicle impact. Emergency responders transported her to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where she was pronounced dead at 6:54 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy was conducted Saturday to determine the final cause and manner of death, pending toxicology and investigative findings. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Will County Sheriff’s Office at 815-727-8575.
