Fatal Berkshire County tractor-trailer crash death of Antonio Marcucci – Obituary
Antonio Marcucci, 32, of Waterbury, Connecticut, died Thursday morning after a head-on collision involving two tractor-trailers in Otis, Massachusetts.
Officials with the Berkshire County Attorney’s Office reported that Otis police responded just before 9:10 a.m. to South Main Road following reports of a serious two-vehicle accident. Upon arriving, officers discovered a Connecticut-plated tractor-trailer in the northbound lane and an Oklahoma-plated tractor-trailer lodged in a snowbank in the southbound lane.
Marcucci, the driver of the Connecticut truck, was trapped inside his cab. Emergency personnel provided on-scene aid before transporting him to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary findings suggest that the Oklahoma truck was traveling southbound when Marcucci’s vehicle lost control, crossing into the southbound lane and striking the other tractor-trailer head-on. The Oklahoma driver reportedly escaped serious injury. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
