A preliminary death investigation by the Harrison County Coroner’s Office identified the individuals who died in the incident that happened overnight. The cause of death for both was reported as injuries from impact.
The pair were residents of Long Beach, Mississippi, according to the local Coroner, Brian Switzer.
Amtrak informed a local news outlet on Tuesday that the accident took place around 7 p.m. The train operator stated that the vehicle involved was blocking the railway tracks at Davis Avenue in Pass Christian.
Pass Christian Police confirmed that both Craddock and Ellegant were inside the car at the time of the crash. The police chief also reported that Tavianna Ellegant was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Douglas Craddock was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
