Ronald Chyron Tinsley II, 31, was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop in Marina on Sunday evening, authorities reported. The incident took place near the intersection of Marina Heights Drive and Arroyo Drive around 4:55 p.m.
Marina Police Chief Hopkins said officers encountered Tinsley with a firearm either on his person or in close proximity to his vehicle. Responding officers fired during the confrontation, and Tinsley was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later recovered a gun, though details on ownership or involvement in the shooting were not disclosed.
The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office has taken over the investigation and plans to interview three officers involved. Investigators are reviewing all circumstances to determine whether any criminal actions were committed by law enforcement.
