Fatal Weston Interstate 75 motorcycle crash death of Kenneth “Kenny” MacLeod – Obituary
Kenneth “Kenny” MacLeod, a retired Miami Beach police officer who continued serving as an active reserve officer, was killed Tuesday night in a serious motorcycle crash that led to lane closures on Interstate 75 in Weston.
The collision occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on southbound I-75 near Exit 15 at Royal Palm and Arvida Parkway, according to authorities.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that a Volkswagen Jetta and an Indian Challenger motorcycle were traveling side by side in the southbound lanes when the rear left portion of the car struck the front right side of the motorcycle.
The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting MacLeod from the bike. Troopers said he was then struck by another vehicle moments later.
MacLeod was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic in the area was heavily affected for several hours as investigators worked to document the crash and clear the roadway.
Miami Beach police confirmed MacLeod’s identity on Wednesday, describing him as a respected former officer who remained dedicated to public service even after retirement. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
