Andrew Magana dies in fatal Fresno pedestrian crash

Fatal Fresno pedestrian crash death of Andrew Magana – Obituary

Andrew Magana, 37, of Fresno, was killed after being struck by a car on southbound Highway 99 near Belmont. The incident occurred shortly after midnight when Magana ran into traffic in the area.

California Highway Patrol officers initially responded to a stopped vehicle on the transition ramp from Highway 99 to Highway 180, where witnesses reported a person running nearby. Shortly thereafter, multiple calls came in reporting a pedestrian in the roadway. Magana was struck just south of Belmont Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Magana, a 22-year-old, sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital. Authorities determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him for DUI.
