Linda F. Bocchino, 74, of Berkeley, was found dead Tuesday inside her snow-covered 2013 Hyundai Tucson in the Walmart parking lot on Route 37 in Toms River.
Toms River police responded to reports of an unresponsive woman in a vehicle around 1:24 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the car had not been recently moved and broke a window to check on Bocchino, finding her deceased in the driver’s seat. Authorities do not consider the death suspicious, though a specific cause has not yet been determined.
Local organizations noted that Bocchino, who was homeless, may have passed away while seeking warmth after running out of gas and experiencing a dead battery. Family members have been offered support, and officials continue to monitor the circumstances of her death.
