On January 28, 2026, 20-year-old Ta Shaun Smith of Massillon was tragically killed in a shooting on Alan Page Drive, SE in Canton, Ohio. Police discovered Smith with a gunshot wound to the torso, and he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Niko Marshall, 18, of Canton, faces charges of murder and felonious assault, while 33-year-old Nathaniel Sanford of Sherrodsville is charged with murder and tampering with evidence. De Iveon Newman, 19, of Massillon, is charged with receiving stolen property, and 20-year-old Kymani James, also from Massillon, is charged with tampering with evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Canton Police Detective Bureau or the Stark County Crime Stoppers.
