On January 25, 2026, 26-year-old Ramone Thomas from Toronto was killed in a shooting that took place in the Old East Village area of London, Ontario. Authorities say that Thomas was fatally injured in the incident, and a second person was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
The shooting occurred around 4 a.m. near Dundas Street, located between Lyle and Hewitt Streets. Officers responded to the scene following multiple reports of gunshots. Investigators have since arrested 26-year-old Matthew Yousufy from London, charging him with several offenses, including second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and possession of prohibited firearms.
Yousufy is also facing charges related to dangerous driving, failure to stop for police, and possessing a restricted firearm without proper licensing. He is set to appear in court on February 5, 2026, as police continue their investigation.
This marks the second homicide in London this year, with the first occurring just two weeks prior on January 12 in the same area.
