Fatal Nashville winter storm deaths of Sharon Conyers, Almaquio Martinez Olivera, James Mitchell, and Francis Pilkington – Obituary
Nashville, Tennessee, has been rocked by the tragic loss of four individuals due to the severe winter storm that swept through the area. Sharon Conyers, 46, Almaquio Martinez Olivera, 39, James Mitchell, 92, and Francis Pilkington, 93, have been confirmed as victims of weather-related fatalities. The deaths are still under investigation, and the Medical Examiner’s office is yet to determine the official causes.
The storm caused widespread power outages across the region, with a peak of 230,000 Nashville residents left without electricity. The victims were found under various circumstances linked to unsafe heating methods during the storm. Mitchell was found unresponsive at his home on Blank Street after a generator, which powered a small heater, had stopped working. Conyers was discovered mid-morning on Monday, while Pilkington died after falling at her assisted living facility when power was lost. Martinez Olivera’s death is suspected to be from carbon monoxide poisoning after a generator ran near his bed, with his roommates finding him unresponsive.
Nashville’s Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has reduced the total number of winter-related fatalities in the state to 12, following an investigation that eliminated one earlier reported death. The storm continues to have a significant impact, and officials are urging residents to exercise caution during the ongoing recovery efforts.
