Fatal Alexandria shooting death of Marquette Holmes – Obituary
Authorities in Alexandria have confirmed that Marquette Holmes, a 27-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., lost his life after a shooting Wednesday evening on North Patrick Street.
Police were dispatched to the 900 block of N. Patrick Street at approximately 6:36 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Holmes and a teenage boy both suffering from gunshot injuries.
Emergency crews transported the two victims to separate hospitals for treatment. Holmes later succumbed to his injuries, while the teenage victim was treated and is expected to recover, according to police officials.
The District of Columbia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has officially ruled Holmes’ death a homicide. In response to the incident, Alexandria Police have increased patrols in the surrounding neighborhood and are actively canvassing the area for information.
Detectives are asking residents and drivers who were near North Patrick and North Alfred streets between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday to submit any doorbell camera footage, dashcam videos, or photographs that may assist the investigation. Evidence can be uploaded through the department’s public evidence portal and should reference case number 26-007165.
