The shooting took place around 7 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Rigsby Avenue, near Elgin Avenue. Officers with the San Antonio Police Department responded to the area and discovered Perez behind a property with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Perez was believed to be walking toward a vehicle when he was shot. Police said no information about a suspect or possible motive has been released, and no arrests have been announced.
