Fatal Calistoga crash death of Robert French – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that Robert French, a 79-year-old resident of Calistoga, lost his life following an early morning collision on April 11 in Napa Valley.
According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. near the intersection of Dunaweal Lane and Silverado Trail. Initial findings indicate that French had been cycling east along the north shoulder of Dunaweal Lane at the time.
Investigators say that, for reasons still under review, French moved across the eastbound lane, where he was struck by a Ford Mustang traveling in the same direction.
Emergency responders pronounced French dead at the scene after he sustained severe injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the location and fully cooperated with law enforcement officials.
Following the collision, authorities shut down Dunaweal Lane in both directions for several hours while crews conducted their investigation.
Officials have not yet determined the exact circumstances that led to the crash, and the case remains under active investigation.
